Message from the Site Leader

SikorskiHoneywell’s Buffalo Research Lab has been one of the company’s key research and development hubs for more than 55 years. It has a long history of innovation and has enabled Honeywell to become a world leader in the development of fluorinated molecules, including common household materials such as refrigerants, blowing agents for insulation, and solvents that are better for the environment and make life more comfortable and energy-efficient. The lab supports Honeywell’s Performance Materials and Technologies strategic business group.

The creative scientists at the Buffalo Research Lab have secured more than 500 patents that have helped Honeywell become a leader in fluorine technology. We are constantly working to develop new products and have several hundred more patents under review. Researchers at the lab are also actively involved in product support, which helps to ensure that Honeywell products seamlessly integrate into our customers’ systems.

Honeywell has continuously made significant investments in the lab for the important technologies developed here. Since 2008, more than $17 million has been invested to support the development of its new low-global-warming refrigerants, propellants and solvents.

As part of Honeywell’s overall commitment to safety, we operate under the principles of the American Chemistry Council’s Responsible Care® program. This program is the foundation of health, safety and environmental excellence in our industry. Responsible Care fosters cooperation among chemical industry companies to continuously improve their health, safety and environmental performance, and to communicate with stakeholders about their products and processes.

Honeywell is active in the Buffalo community. The company supports science education in area schools and participates in community outreach events. You can read more about this local support by clicking on the “In Our Community” tab at the top of this web page.

Our employees at the lab have made significant contributions to science over the past five decades. The work done here has helped improve the lives of many people around the world. As site leader, I am honored to share this heritage with you, and I look forward to providing you with more information about our innovations, serving our customers and providing good jobs in the community.
